Knob Jockeys are three Ableton Live digital DJs from Manchester, blending breaks, electro, fidget, funk, hip hop, pop and
cleverness into a mix that you’ll just have to love. Or hate. It’s up to you really.
Keep up to date with the blog below or download our latest mixes and mashups.
Happy New Year! So, late last year, we said we’d start uploading some individual tracks to the site, as well as our mixes. So, here are two to get us started. First up is a tune from a rare drum ‘n’ bass set we played last year, ‘Jump‘ by TC, enhanced no end by the Kriss Kross Kids. Second is a mashup of a Baobinga remix of a fairly new, wicked Stanton Warriors tune ‘Blaze‘, given a nice old-skool kick by The Prodigy.
Give them a listen, and let us know what you think!
Hope you had a good one – we had a great night at Carry on vs. Spin Cycle. We followed a cracking set from Vandal and played till closing time. Thanks to all those who made it such a wicked night.
We will be adding the set to our site as a download in the near future.
A quick update to say we’re playing a live Ableton set this New Year’s Eve at Carry On vs. Spin Cycle at Scubar, Manchester. We’re playing along side the talents of Vandal (Lot49), The Autobots & Unbalanced Jack (Broke), Steve Thorpe, Resistance, Kaine, Gooseman & Spod.
Comments:
This is a remastered version of a nice bouncy set we played at Bandwidth in Manchester. Takes in everything from funk and disco to electro house and breaks!
Us Knob Jockeys have tended to focus on full hour long mixes, as we began life, and are foremost, DJs that create sets for playing out in clubs. Because this is how we create our sets, it’s hard to separate out individual tracks, as at any one point there can be 4 different tunes being played, to a greater or lesser degree, and they’ve all been woven together to work as part of a complete picture.
There are however some tunes that would work really nicely as standalone tracks, and sometimes you just want to hear them on their own – not 25 minutes into a set. And of course, if other DJs want to play these tracks, they need to be stand-alone. So, we plan quite shortly to mix down some of our favourite bits and release them as individual tracks. Some will be club-tune length, 6 or 7 minutes, and some will end up as 3 minute pop-tunes, depending on the particular tune. Watch this space…
